WHAT MOTIVATES US TO WORK?

WHAT MOTIVATES US TO WORK?

Last week we wrote about the danger for people working as Platform Suppliers resulting from the anti-migration riots in England (see here). This is a direct threat to their health and life.

In this context, we would like to remind you of the research results of the Institute of Structural Research “Differences in the quality of work between platform workers from Poland and migrants”, published almost two years ago. Contrary to the title, this research was not about who works and how efficiently. It was mainly about the difference in motivation to work for the Platforms and the conditions in which this work is performed.

The summary reads:
Migrants take up platform work mainly because they have no other source of income or no other employment opportunities. Meanwhile, Poles are mainly looking for flexibility and independence. Migrants’ working conditions and quality are noticeably worse in terms of working time, work-life balance, multidimensional deprivation and job satisfaction. Migrants who started platform work immediately after arriving in Poland are in a particularly unfavorable situation.
