This thesis was presented by the British newspaper “The Guardian” in an article published last Sunday [03.05.2026]. The newspaper cites the opinion of the British trade union TUC: algorithm-based work and remuneration systems make employee salaries unpredictable and constitute a form of gambling. People working for platforms don’t know why they receive different amounts for the same work, and this creates a sense of lack of control, agency, and any transparency in remuneration policies.
This system of dynamic salary calculation has been known practically since the inception of platform work and is essentially its core. But the final straw was the Uber platform, which introduced dynamic pay for its riders in 2023. Previously, the company charged a fixed commission (20-25%), and rates were more predictable.
