Fortune magazine described a conflict as old as time: the authorities of Boston (USA) publicly accused the delivery platform DoorDash of its employees posing a threat to street traffic. The following were mentioned: driving through a red light, driving against traffic on a one-way street and driving at excessive speed.
In response, the Platform issued a statement that it was obviously a scandal and that safety was their priority. And that they are establishing a point of contact for the Boston Police Department.
But is this fair? Since Suppliers are paid not per hour of work, but per order, the situation when they want to complete the order as quickly as possible is obvious.
Faster delivery is also in the customer’s interest. Faster order execution is also in the interest of the Platform – it increases its profits.
So where does this hypocrisy come from? We don’t know, but we do know that it has been played since the beginning of cities and couriers.
