We have been following the development of the European Union Directive concerning the operating conditions of Internet Platforms and regulating the working conditions for them for a long time. And when the previous Spanish Presidency announced a negotiated compromise, the Council of Europe rejected the Directive.

Currently, Belgium has taken over the EU presidency, but the European Trade Union Confederation has already published a sharp criticism of the new version of the Directive.

Already at this stage, holes have been identified in it that will allow the Platforms to continue exploitation: avoiding the employment of employees in accordance with labor law, and thus ensuring their decent remuneration and their safety.

ETUC writes: The directive does not protect workers and does not stop fraudulent exploitation through self-employment.

They assessed the new version of the directive directly: it is worse than the current status quo.
