The British daily The Guardian published an article describing the working conditions of people working as Delivery Drivers for Platforms.

A few quotes:

Delivers wonder why someone who has just logged in gets a job, while others who have waited longer are passed over. Why, when the restaurant is busy and needs Delivery Drivers urgently, does the Algorithm indicate that they are not available?
(…)
“It’s an absolute nightmare,” says the Delivery Driver, adding that he permanently lost access to one of the Platforms because he exceeded the “maximum five minutes” allotted to reach the restaurant, while at the same time finishing his previous work for another application. Sometimes he is logged out for several hours because he has grown a beard, which confuses the facial recognition software.
(…)
“It’s not like being an employee at all,” he says. He is regularly frustrated by having to deal with being paid incorrectly for his work – sometimes it’s just 10p, other times it’s a few pounds. “And there’s no one you can talk to. It’s all automated.”
