In the span of just one month, two tragic workplace accidents involving delivery workers have occurred in Turkey. In late September, Yiğit Söyler, who was working as a delivery person for a local restaurant, died in a road accident. It was his first day on the job; he had taken the position for just two weeks to earn some extra pocket money. He was 17 years old.
The second tragic accident took place in Istanbul. On October 14, the city was hit by heavy rainfall, which caused the Ayazağa stream to overflow. At the time, Murat Babacanov was out making deliveries on a scooter. Tragically, he was swept away by a violent flood surge. Initially, emergency services found only his scooter. It was not until four days of searching that his body was recovered.
