A nationwide strike by people working as suppliers for the Glovo platform continued in Spain throughout the weekend. Major trade unions, CCOO and UGT, called for action. The outcome of this strike is still unknown, but it has spread to around 60 cities. The most intense protests and demonstrations were reported in Madrid (especially in metropolitan areas such as Fuenlabrada, Parla, Villalba, and Valdemoro), Barcelona (where Glovo is headquartered), Pamplona, and Asturias. The protest took place according to a previously planned schedule: Friday [24/04/2026]: from 8:00 PM to midnight, Saturday: all day (24 hours), and Sunday: from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
The main reason for the strike is Glovo’s announced collective layoffs (ERE – Expediente de Regulación de Empleo), which will affect 750 employees. Trade unions are protesting against the replacement of full-time employees with subcontractors without employment rights.
