Almost two weeks ago [July 22, 2026], in the Indian state of Telangana, local trade unions organized a flash strike of people working for platforms. Both drivers and delivery drivers working for platforms such as Ola, Uber, Rapido, Swiggy, Zomato, Zepto, and Blinkit participated in the action. The demands of the protest were practically the same as everywhere: a wage increase, the immediate implementation of regulations protecting workers, and the dismantling of the Fleet Partner system.

The unions that organized the strike (Telangana App-Based Drivers Forum and Telangana Gig and Platform Workers Union) reported that approximately 390,000 workers participated. However, since the demands were not met, an indefinite strike was announced, starting August 8, 2026.
