Yesterday [March 31, 2026], the Wolt Platform management announced that, as of May 1st, it is completely eliminating the requirement for delivery workers to carry the distinctive blue backpacks. This decision was made following the publication of a report by the Finnish National Health Service, which indicated that their use leads to spinal strain. The increasing incidence of chronic back pain has dramatically increased Finnish budget spending on rehabilitation.
However, it is unclear what new solution Wolt will implement.
