Another news from the world of big money. We’ve already reported on the race between Uber and DoorDash to acquire Delivery Hero (here). The latter corporation manages numerous delivery platforms in many countries (e.g., Glovo in Poland). It seems Uber will win the bidding. But before that happens, speculation is already emerging that the acquisition will be blocked by European antitrust authorities. Consequently, Uber is starting to look for buyers for some parts of Delivery Hero. Investment funds based in the Middle East might be interested in buying the Talabat platform operating there (and owned by Delivery Hero).
From our perspective, the situation is quite ironic: large financial players fear antitrust authorities, but they are not bothered by accusations of labor exploitation.
