In exactly three weeks, Warsaw will host what is arguably the largest event for bicycle couriers this year. It will be a warm-up event for the European Cycling Messenger Championships (ECMC), which will take place next door: in Berlin, a week after the Warsaw event.
We spoke with Ludmiła, a courier from the Timebomb courier cooperative, about the event.
What is this event? Why are you organizing it?
We’re organizing a pre-event for the European Cycling Messenger Championships (ECMC) Berlin 2026, a gathering of bicycle couriers from across Europe and the world. We’re meeting in Warsaw before everyone heads west.
Not to prepare—but to get started together. We do it because we can, because we enjoy what we do, we like meeting and doing things together that might only make sense to us, but work out quite well.
It’s also a good time to meet people from other cities before Berlin gets really crowded.
Where will it be? What’s on the schedule?
In Warsaw, May 8–11. The plan includes races, alleycats, gold sprints, fast things and pointless things that suddenly turn out to be the most important. There will be meetings, rides around the city, and evenings that defy the schedule.
And then we move on—together, towards Berlin.
More details will be available soon on the pzkur.pl website, so it’s worth checking out.
Who is it for—who can participate and how can you sign up?
For people on bikes. The rest is just details. You can be a courier, you might be one someday, you might just be exploring what it’s all about. If you feel the rhythm, you’re in the right place. Currently, over 100 people have signed up, including people from as far away as Colombia and Japan.
You can register via the website pzkur.pl. And if you’re planning to travel with us to Berlin, it’s a good idea to do so before May 1st—it will make it easier to plan your trip.
And who’s behind it all—who’s organizing it?
A group of Warsaw couriers. It’s more of a network than an organization. It includes people associated with the Warsaw Courier Fund, the Warsaw Timebomb cooperative, and people who support this network. The event is organized grassroots-level, without any large structures. A little experience, a little improvisation, and a lot of goodwill.
