We return to the topic of the Platform Work Directive. Two weeks ago [September 4, 2024] Rzeczpospolita published an article about the government starting work on implementing the Directive in Poland. The title of the text “Couriers do not want either full-time jobs or work <<in the wild>>” suggests adopting an objective point of view. But it is worth taking a closer look.

Firstly: the author confuses the Directives. The Posting of Workers Directive with the Platform Work Directive.

Secondly: he cleverly manipulates. He presents the point of view of people working as Suppliers using research conducted by the Platform.
Thirdly: he claims that suppliers want flexibility at work. Meanwhile, research shows that flexibility is usually only important for employees with Polish citizenship (see here)

Fourthly: the text includes an “industry insider” who informs about employment based on lease agreements. The question is: why did the Author decide to anonymize this statement and downplay this scandalous procedure?

Well, we have to get used to it. The more the implementation progresses, the more work the lobbyists employed by the Platforms will have. The race is on.
