Students from the University of Namibia analyzed publicly available information regarding legal cases against Online Platforms. They all concerned the recognition of people working for Internet Platforms as full employees.
The analysis shows that the majority of cases concerned the Deliveroo platform – seventeen, while sixteen cases concerned Glovo. Virtually all known Platforms have had or have cases in courts.
Most cases were pending in the Netherlands – 19, in Spain – 16, in Italy – 10, and in Great Britain – 7.
Sentences? In 58 cases, the courts ruled in favor of the employees, in 13 in favor of the Platforms, and in the remaining cases no judgments have been issued yet.
