In a series of presentations by trade unions, associations and groups that fight against Platform exploitation around the world, today we return to the Netherlands.
The FNV trade union, which we have previously presented, obtained an interesting and very favorable court decision for Platform employees.

The idea is that workers at online supermarkets and delivery companies such as Picnic and Gorillas must be subject to the same collective bargaining agreement as workers at traditional supermarkets.

In 2021, the Platforms concluded a collective labor agreement for the e-commerce sector in the Netherlands. However, it is very different from a collective agreement for supermarket workers. For example, workers in online supermarkets and courier companies were not entitled to allowances for working at night or on Sundays, while other supermarket workers are. Now suppliers will be remunerated additionally for this and will gain many other rights and social security.
