If you happen to be in London [UK] this Saturday [August 29, 2026], you have the opportunity to participate in events marking the 10th anniversary of the first strike by delivery workers on the Deliveroo platform. It was one of the first high-profile delivery protests in the UK. It was organized in response to a change in the pay system: a shift from hourly pay to a rate per delivery.
As part of the commemorations, the Independent Workers’ Union of Great Britain (IWGB) invites you to a historical walk, which will take you to points in London related to the 2016 strike. During the walk, participants in those events will share their reflections.
