Exactly one week ago [March 31, 2026], a one-day strike took place by delivery workers for the Wolt Platform in Copenhagen, Denmark. The main demand of the strike was the same as everywhere: an immediate pay increase. The strike was organized informally by the employees themselves.

The gathered delivery workers decided to test the behavior of the Platform’s algorithm, which is offering increasingly lower wages for fulfilling orders. They believe the algorithm’s behavior was influenced by Just Eat’s recent decision to withdraw from the Danish market, which reduced competition in the market (we wrote about it here). The strikers gathered in one part of Copenhagen and rejected orders to see if they could increase prices. As a result, prices increased by 40%. However, this may also have been influenced by the fact that a Danish national football team match was taking place that evening.

Initially, 30 people were supposed to participate in the strike, but nearly 150 people participated.
