The authorities of the state of New York (USA) are introducing a minimum hourly rate for suppliers. Although the law is to be in force only from April 2025 (!), at the beginning of July 2023, the four largest Platforms operating in this state filed a lawsuit against the act, demanding its withdrawal.
Vilda Vera Mayuga, head of the Department of Consumer and Worker Protection commented:
“The law will help thousands of workers escape poverty. Suppliers and couriers, like all workers, deserve fair pay for their work and we are disappointed that the Platforms do not agree with this.”
