Remember the fines imposed on the Glovo Platform in Spain? Nearly €400 million! Or how the Platform went into bankruptcy protection because of it? Or how a Glovo management board member in Spain founded a separate company to be a Fleet Partner? We’ve written about this many times. But don’t get your hopes up: nothing changes at the Platforms.

Exactly a week ago [October 28, 2025], this very Platform dismissed a trade union member who is one of the plaintiffs in a court case against Glovo in Spain. The court proceedings, which are still in the early stages, concern the sham self-employment of over 3,500 people.

And the dismissal mechanism? We know it well! The Platform imposed disciplinary dismissal on him under the pretext of being absent from work while on sick leave due to an accident at work. Ironically, the same day the accident occurred, the employee received assistance from the company’s mutual insurance company. This confirms that he effectively notified his superiors of the situation (even though the app usually doesn’t work after an accident).
