The academic journal Studia Socjologiczne published the results of research conducted by two people from the University of Warsaw (Barbara Jancewicz and Ignacy Jóźwiak) entitled The promises and risks of platform work. Accessibility and flexibility: a case study of delivery workers and “taxi” drivers in Poland.

In the summary of their research they wrote:
Without assuming a negative impact of platforms, we focus on the flexibility and accessibility of employment and how this translates into the role of platform work as: 1) entry points to the labour market, 2) last-chance work, 3) precarious employment and 4) opportunities for transitional or flexible income. We found that the migration status of workers is crucial to their experience of platform work. However, it seems that the situation of platform workers is not about the platforms themselves, but rather about the broader legal and economic environment that offers few alternatives to platform work.
