Well, we barely wrote about the fine imposed by the European Commission on the Glovo Platform and its Spanish company (here). Well, we barely informed about the next lawsuits also filed against Glovo in Spain (here). And now there is a lot of noise in Spain about Glovo again.
Half a year ago, after many years of lost court cases (ending with multi-million fines), Glovo promised that from July 1, 2025, it would abandon the model of ostensibly employing people as Suppliers on a “subcontractor” basis. It would provide everyone with normal employment conditions. But two weeks before that date, only 16% of Suppliers have a contract with Glovo. And what about the rest? And the answer is trivial, but really the most trivial in the world. It turned out that exactly one week after making the promise, two former Glovo directors founded the Fliis company, which will simply be an employment intermediary between the Platform and Suppliers. Does this remind you of anything?
And on top of that, at the Glovo 10th anniversary party, Oscar Pierre (founder of Glovo) and union leaders Pepe Álvarez (Unión General de Trabajadores, UGT) and Javier Pacheco (Comisiones Obreras, CC.OO.) met and posed for a photo together. Both unions have strongly criticized Glovo in the past and organized many strikes in the Platform.
