Literally a week ago [03.06.2025] we reported on the penalty imposed by the European Commission on the Glovo Platform (here), and now such news! The court in Barcelona has announced that it has received a lawsuit filed by the Just Eat Platform (in Poland it operates as Pyszne.pl) against Glovo. In it, Just Eat accuses Glovo of unfair competition, consisting in avoiding the employment of people working as Delivery Persons on employment contracts (Just Eat itself employs on the basis of contracts for services). Just Eat is seeking EUR 295 million from Glovo. The case is to be heard between June 17 and 20, 2025.
Because this is a trial between companies, the Just Eat lawsuit aims to award millions of dollars in damages and the Glovo management cannot be punished with prison sentences. However, Glovo founder Oscar Pierre may soon receive a prison sentence. This is about another case, this time a criminal one. He is accused of a crime against workers’ rights, and this process is now entering its final phase.
The false self-employment model (which underlies Glovo) has already brought a flood of lawsuits to this Platform. As a result, after more than five years, the Spanish Supreme Court ruled that Glovo’s Suppliers were falsely self-employed.
