Last week [20.03.2025], the US-based DoorDash Delivery Platform announced its partnership with Klarna’s Delayed Payments Platform. Now, when ordering anything for home or office delivery, you can pay for the entire amount in 4 installments.
There have been many voices saying that this is another step for overly indebted people to increase their debt. Klarna defends itself by saying that you can pay for orders with a credit card anyway, so it’s basically the same thing.
The problem, however, is that the installment option is only available for orders over $35. In addition, there is a thesis that delayed payment often causes the effect of “overconsumption” in buyers.
