India-based platform Urban Company offers cleaning and cooking services in private homes. In Mumbai, it offers a service that is completed within 15 minutes and costs 49 rupees per hour (PLN 2).
Three days ago [18.03.2025], two unions, the Indian Federation of App-Based Transport Workers (IFAT) and the Telangana Gig and Platform Workers Union (TGPWU), released a statement calling the service “exploitative and dehumanizing.” They called on the Indian government to take action to regulate casual labor and prevent it from turning into a form of modern slavery.
