The Fairwork Project has published another report on working conditions for Platforms – this time in India. Based on the analysis of many factors (including wages, form of employment, contract terms), this report assesses (in the form of a ranking) working conditions in eleven Platforms. Here are the scores (maximum 10 points):

bigbasket – 6
Swiggy – 6
Urban Company – 6
Zomato – 6 points (Delivery Platform)
BluSmart – 5 points (Ride Platform)
Zepto – 4 points (Delivery Platform)
Amazon Flex – 2 points (Delivery Platform)
Flipkart – 1 point (Delivery Platform)
Ola – zero (Ride Platform)
Porter – zero (Delivery Platform)
Uber – zero (Ride Platform)

Out of these eleven Platforms, only bigbasket and Urban Company have provided evidence of a minimum wage policy, but none of the Platforms operating in India have been able to prove that all of their employees earn at least the minimum wage after deducting expenses.

Fairwork is an international project spanning 38 countries across 5 continents. It is coordinated by the Oxford Internet Institute and the WZB Berlin Social Science Center.
