We continue our series of presentations on the activities of trade unions, associations and groups that are fighting against the exploitation of Platforms. Today: Africa.

African Platform workers Representatives (APWR) is a coalition of organizations working for workers on all platforms. It is a relatively young organization, established only a few months ago, but it has ambitions to network initiatives from all over Africa.

Contrary to our Eurocentric stereotypes, Platforms also operate in Africa, and on a large scale – for example, in 2019 there were 24 Delivery Platforms. And just like in Europe, people who work for Platforms are organizing to fight for their rights. In Nairobi (Kenya) alone, one of the organizations (Organization of Online Drivers) brings together over 6,000 Platform drivers.
