For some time now, we have been following the actions of labor movements in India working for those working as Platform Suppliers. And it is clear that these actions are effective. India is one of the few countries that is implementing pro-worker solutions.
Today, we present a scientific paper that describes how this happened. This extensive paper, entitled “The New Politics of Welfare? The Origins and Strategies of Platform and Gig Worker Unions in India in the Age of Digital Capitalism,” is authored by Aditya Ray (University of Bristol, UK) and Aju John (University of Göttingen, Germany). The authors trace the strategies adopted by labor organizations that took action immediately after the outbreak of the Pandemic in 2020.
