In March this year, “Rest of the world” magazine presented the results of its mini survey: What do you do between orders? Where are you waiting for the next one?
They talked to 104 people working for Platforms as drivers, deliverers and cleaners in 10 cities – Dhaka, Hanoi, Hong Kong, Jakarta, Johannesburg, Karachi, Lagos, Mexico, Nairobi and São Paulo.
Of course, most people indicated the sidewalk as the most common place to rest and cafes or shops (29 people each). The third most common place is street stands (27 people). Many people simply indicated their home (17).
The remaining options are parking lots (11), parks (7), shopping mall (5), gas station (5), airport (3), community kitchens (3), public bathrooms (3), underpasses (2). Individual people pointed to libraries, bookstores and churches.
