One way to increase employee productivity is a bonus system, or additional compensation. When we work as Suppliers for Platforms, we often receive information about various “challenges,” “bonuses,” or “multipliers.”

Here’s a message from the Wolt Platform to employees working in Greece. The platform announces an additional 50 euros if a newly hired Supplier uses a specific code in the recruitment form. Simple? Seems so. But of course, platforms always have a catch. Both new and existing employees will receive the bonus, but only if the new employee completes 100 deliveries within 7 days of activation.

We calculated (very roughly): one order is about 30 minutes (including waiting time). 8 hours of work equals 16 orders. Seven days equals 112 orders – so it should be possible (assuming, of course, that we accept work 7 days a week).

However, two warning lights immediately go off:
– the Algorithm is assigning the orders. What if it assigns us 99 deliveries and then we get shadowbanned?
– is 50 euros a net salary? Gross? How much tax is included?
