The Mark Up online magazine describes the working conditions of nurses at the Clipboard Platform. We have already written about the Uberization of subsequent professions, today we present extensive fragments from The Mark Up, presenting the experiences of Howell, working for this Platform.
Attendance rules are based on a point system. If a nurse fails to show up for a shift, 85 out of 100 points are deducted. Employees regain it through consistent attendance at work – over weeks or even months, depending on how often the person works. Once, as Howell was driving from Salinas, California, to a shift an hour away in San Jose, she missed a request from the app to confirm her presence on her way to work. By the time she arrived on scene, another nurse had been assigned to the shift, and Howell was on the verge of being temporarily suspended – with only 15 points to spare. She was finally confined for a week after she missed another shift.
She also never knew what would happen until she showed up for her shift at the new facility. While on duty at a long-term care facility, she was the only nurse working with approximately 40 patients.
