Over two weeks ago [15.10.2024] in Glasgow, Scotland, several dozen people working as drivers for the Uber Platform protested outside the company’s local office. They demanded an increase in rates for orders. According to a survey conducted among drivers, the vast majority of them earn less than a year ago.

Additionally, protesters demanded the abandonment of the new “Trip Radar” system currently being introduced by Uber. Drivers fear that its implementation will threaten road safety. Trip Radar is an electronic system that offers orders to many drivers at the same time. Therefore, it requires constant tracking by the driver. According to them, it will be distracting, increasing the risk for them, passengers and other road users.

The protest was organized by the GMB Scotland trade union.
