The Polish Syndicalists’ Union is organizing a protest action today (27.09.2024) at 16:30 at the headquarters of Pyszne.pl (Warsaw, ul. Elektoralna 12a).
The main postulate of the action is the immediate reinstatement of people dismissed for their work in support of workers’ rights.
Additionally, the protesters will demand the fulfillment of promises from recruitment announcements and changes that will allow for a rational organization of work.
The trade union operating at Pyszne.pl (which is a section of the Confederation of Labor Trade Union) published its position on Telegram (see here), expressing support for the postulates to improve working conditions.
Below we quote the statement in its entirety.
ZZ’s position on the events in Warsaw – update
We sadly state that the company has not accepted our proposals – expressed in the last position – intended to calm the atmosphere and reasonably resolve the dispute. The company only agreed to issue the regulations of official Telegram groups, the layoffs were not suspended, and the introduction of controversial restrictions on changing shifts was not stopped. In connection with the above, we would like to note the following:
Over the past few days, we have reviewed in detail the information on the latest layoffs. There has been no effective moderation on the Telegram group for a long time, which has led to the spread of inappropriate language. We consider its use to be a negative circumstance and once again appeal to everyone for culture and respect. The assessment of the layoffs is complicated, there was undoubtedly inappropriate statements related to the emotional reaction to the announcement of the restrictions on changing shifts, at the same time we must note that in the current situation, the layoffs were selective and ad hoc. ZZ undertook to intervene in the case of the people who requested it. After talks, the company agreed to conditionally reinstate two people.
The company’s announcements suggesting that it will repress couriers for spreading information about legal employee protests are extremely disturbing. Remember that you always have the right to criticize and protest, provided that you do not break the law. ZZ will always defend this right. We also appeal to the company to declare that it will not impose negative consequences on people participating in legal protests or reporting on them.
In view of the wide-spread doubts as to the reasons for dismissing individuals, we postulate that each dismissed courier receives in writing the reasons for terminating the contract. These are the standards for treating employees with dignity.
We have received information that a protest is planned under the Warsaw hub, organized by the Union of Polish Syndicalists (https://www.facebook.com/events/823567306643437). The demands are: reinstatement of dismissed people (our position on this matter above), guarantees of hours (solutions in this matter have long been demanded by ZZ), increase of the remote allowance (which ZZ requested in the spring), cessation of the requirement to make deliveries after working hours (this is a very important thing that we have been talking about for a long time, we consider the fact that couriers do not know what time they will finish work to be scandalous and unworthy) and cessation of assigning orders to car couriers in the paid parking and clean transport zone.
We are pleased that the company has proposed the rules of Telegram groups, introducing clear rules and a system of warnings given for inappropriate statements. We consider this to be the right way to regulate this issue.
