Last Thursday [8 February 2024], a new interim agreement was reached between the European Parliament and the EU Council on the Online Platform Work Directive. The vote of member states on the new agreement will take place today (February 14, 2024)
The only question is – what does the Directive contain? Will it change anything for us, employees?
It appears that at this stage the full text to be voted on has not been published. However, leaks show that all indicators and thresholds determining the presumption of employment have disappeared. There are only instructions for EU countries to define these indicators in their national legislation.
So: it turned out as usual. Our rights, workers’ rights, are blurry and irrelevant. All we have left are words of consolation: it could have been much worse.
