Exactly one week ago [24.10.2024] we reported (here) about the strike referendum at the courier company eCourier operating in Great Britain. The referendum was organized by the Independent Workers Union of Great Britain (IWGB), Couriers and Logistics section. Result: 94% of people who voted supported the start of the strike action.
The IWGB commented on it as follows: Dangerously long hours when delivering life-saving medicines. There are suppliers who earn less than the minimum wage after covering costs. No paid leave. No right to a pension. While the management is sitting on 35 million pounds.
It is probably worth reminding that eCourier belongs to RoyalMail, which means it is simply a state-owned company.
