Fairwork has published its latest report on working conditions for Platforms (previous reports can be found here). Fairwork is an international project covering 38 countries on 5 continents coordinated by the Oxford Internet Institute and the WZB Berlin Social Science Center.

The report, published yesterday [December 10, 2024], analyzes many factors relevant to employee rights (including wages, forms of employment, contract terms), with the final result in the form of a ranking.

Here are the results of the Ranking:
Pyszne.pl – 9 points (Delivery platform)
Glovo – 3 points (Delivery platform)
Bolt – 0 points (Platform with passenger transport)
FreeNow – 0 points (Platform with passenger transport)
Uber – 0 points (Platform with passenger transport)
UberEats – 0 points (Delivery platform)
In the ranking, Platforms could receive a maximum of 10 points, which means that they meet the minimum FairWork standards.

The entire report (available for download here) shows that the world of work for Platforms is full of abuses and ambiguities and still remains beyond any State control. For example, 18% of people working for Platforms do not have any contract! And the National Labor Inspectorate “did not clearly recognize these actions as violating the law”.

For our part, we ask: Is it a coincidence that the Platforms in which Trade Unions operate received a score above “zero”? And we are already announcing that we will soon present an interview with the people who created the report.
