At the beginning of May 2022, suppliers working for the Talabat Platform (belonging to the Delivero Hero company founded in Germany) announced a strike. The strikers’ main demand: a raise of 2 dirhams (about half a dollar) per order.
Importantly, in the United Arab Emirates, any type of strike is illegal. What is also important, almost 90% of the UAE’s inhabitants are foreigners who came to this country to earn money and leave after the contract ends. Therefore, there is no question of any integration and sense of mutual solidarity at work.
