Two days ago [December 2, 2024], the Ministry of Labor and Social Economy in Spain took a clear and transparent position on people working as Suppliers for Platforms.
In a very short note, the Ministry informed:
A supplier is neither an entrepreneur nor a self-employed person – he is an employee.
No company, no matter how large and powerful, can be above the law.
This was a commentary on the decision of the Glovo Platform, which, after years of litigation, receiving a total of over 253 million euros in penalties, has just announced that it will start employing Suppliers as full-time employees.
We will describe the details and consequences of the decision of the Spanish Glovo soon, and today we will only ask the question:
what is the position of our Ministry of Labor on this matter?
