Yesterday we described the dramatic situation of employees of Internet Platforms – migrants without legal permits decide to work “in place of” another legal employee, giving him up to half of their earnings in return. At the same time, they are deprived of employee insurance and any employee rights – because they are “replacement” and not “platform employees”.
And this exploitation is completely sanctioned by the Platforms: they know it and brazenly exploit it. According to the CGT Riders trade union (Barcelona, Spain), Glovo has just increased the limit of “substitutions”. Currently, up to 10 people can work on one account!
This is what serfdom and slavery look like in the 21st century.
