Bloomberg Magazine published an article two days ago [January 14, 2025] about a proposed law requiring the registration of all bicycles, scooters and other vehicles powered by an electric motor. This solution was proposed at the New York City Council (USA), due to the increasing number of accidents involving such vehicles.
The first debate on this topic at the City Council session lasted eight hours, which shows how important this topic is. And at this stage, it is not yet certain what the registration procedure would look like in detail.
Importantly, this law will apply to all users of these vehicles, including those who use them for private purposes, e.g. instead of other means of public transport. This will undoubtedly affect in some way people who work as Suppliers and use electric vehicles, and there are about 65,000 of them in New York.
