Here’s another example of how Platforms care about our wages. New York City has introduced a minimum wage for people working as delivery drivers and delivery drivers for Platforms. Work is underway to update this rate in the New Year to account for rising living costs and inflation.
In response, Lyft sent out this appeal to its customers:
New York City’s rides are among the most expensive in the country. Now City Hall has proposed new regulations that will increase costs again.
This means more price increases, on top of the (already introduced) new ride fee that went into effect on January 5. We can care about driver wages without excessive cost increases.
Tell City Hall and the Taxi and Limousine Commission to stop unnecessarily raising the cost of ridesharing.
Take action!
And cool, and that’s their right. But let them stop smiling at us, the people who work for them, and saying brazenly: You are the most important to us! We care about your satisfaction! Because we do not work for satisfaction – we work to earn money.
