Two days ago [26.08.2024], the Office for Personal Data Protection in Amsterdam (the Netherlands) imposed a fine of 290 million euros on the Uber Platform for violating EU regulations on the protection of personal data.

The platform was fined because it transferred the personal data of its employees to the United States and did not provide adequate protection against unauthorized access to them.

The decision of the office followed a group report of the violation by 170 employees, supported by the INV VTC Trade Union and the PersonalData.IO association

Of course, the Uber Platform has the right to appeal this decision, which it will probably do, because a billion PLN is not exactly easy to walk.
