In our series of presentations of trade unions, associations and groups that fight against Platform exploitation around the world, we have already written about Austria (here). At that time, we described the strike action of people working for the Lieferando Platform (belonging to Just Eat, in Poland operating as dobre.pl).
A week ago [May 15, 2024] between 11:00 a.m. and 2:30 p.m., strike action was renewed. In addition to Vienna, there were also protests in Linz, Innsbruck, Klagenfurt and Graz. The background of the action was unsuccessful negotiations on a collective agreement. After six rounds, no agreement was reached. The vida trade union is demanding an 8.7% pay rise for around 2,000 people, while employers are only offering 5.8%. Currently, there is no new date for the talks and further warning strikes cannot be ruled out.
