Two weeks ago, the Italian prosecutor’s office accused the Glovo platform of “organized exploitation” (see here). Now, the same charge has been brought against the Deliveroo platform.
The accusation alleges the exploitation of over twenty thousand people working as delivery drivers, who were paid wages “in some cases up to around 90% below the poverty line.” The prosecutor’s actions concern not only the company but also Andrea Giuseppe Zocchi, the general manager of Deliveroo in Italy.
Simultaneously, police raided the offices of McDonald’s, Burger King, Esselunga, Carrefour, Poke House, and KFC. They are also under investigation because they cooperated with Deliveroo.
