Last Saturday [January 25, 2025] another protest took place in the Indian city of Hyderabad by people working as Delivery Drivers for the Swiggy Platform. A strike and picket were organized. This was not the first such action in India, and the demands are well known from protests in other countries, repeated everywhere where people work for Delivery Platforms. They demanded the introduction of a minimum wage along with a transparent remuneration system and the possibility of contacting the management without unnecessary difficulties. The action was supported by local trade unions.
The Swiggy platform was established in 2014 and is currently majority-owned by the Prosus Investment Fund.
