Some time ago [July 10, 2024], the results of a public opinion survey in the USA regarding the demands of trade unions operating in the Transport Platform industry were published. Generally speaking: the majority of people surveyed support a wide range of benefits for Employees.
When asked about regulations and protections for platform workers, two-thirds of U.S. adults agree that “we need better regulations and protections to improve driver pay and working conditions.” A majority of Americans also say unionization would have a positive impact on overall driver pay (61%) and job safety (58%). Respondents also supported a variety of protections for platform workers, including health benefits and paid time off (74% support), car insurance (74% support), and a flat hourly wage (73% support).
The survey was conducted between June 20 and June 25, 2024, using an online survey panel, among a sample of 1,234 people representative of adults living in the U.S. Source: dataforprogress.org
