A strike of people working at the Glovo Platform begins today in Poznań. We talked about this action with Ivan, one of the organizers.
Hello, thank you for taking the time to answer our questions now, just before the strike. The first questions are quite obvious: why the strike? Why now?
Ivan: The idea of a strike is the result of growing dissatisfaction among couriers, primarily due to systematically falling wages. And Glovo, unfortunately, does not listen to us. We have contacted you many times on various matters. There were even meetings. Now we hope that in this way we will be able to reach them.
How big of a group are you? How many people participate in the preparations?
At the very beginning, a week after the initiative was launched, about 30 couriers came to our first organizational meeting. Now our business is gaining so much momentum that it’s even hard for us to keep track of it, and we’re still working. People join us, even from other cities. So we act, we organize.
Your group will carry out a strike on the Glovo Platform. What about people working for other Platforms?
Our initiative currently only applies to Glovo, but we know that other applications have similar problems because we also talk to our colleagues.
What will the strike look like? How long will it last?
It will be two days: March 21 and 22. On Thursday at 12:00 at Towarowa 37 in Poznań, there will be a meeting, a couriers’ rally, during which the couriers’ appeal and our demands will be announced, which we will then submit to Glovo representatives in writing.
