In the Spanish city of Alicante, people working as Suppliers for the Glovo Platform voted to establish a Works Union Commission. 590 people participated. However, before the Commission could begin its work, its existence was challenged by the Platform itself. Glovo appealed to the court, arguing that the elections were invalid. Since the hearings in this case are still pending, it is unclear what arguments Glovo’s lawyers will use. Perhaps it will be this: Works Union Commissions can only be established by employees, and Suppliers are not – because, after all, they are merely subcontractors!
