For several days now we have been writing about the protest of people working as Suppliers for the Glovo Platform in Gdańsk. Today we talk to one of the co-organizers.

Why did you decide to hold the Protest? Why now?
The idea to organize a protest arose in connection with the new courier application Glovo Rider, which causes us couriers a lot of problems and difficulties – including the most important financial and safety issues. After many conversations with many couriers, it turned out that the problems with the new application affect almost everyone to a greater or lesser extent, so we decided that in view of the current mood of couriers in Gdańsk and in connection with information from couriers from all over Poland, this is the best time to show our dissatisfaction.

Do you all work for Glovo, or are there people from other platforms as well? Do you work through fleet partners or directly for Glovo?
Generally, we all work for Glovo, but there are also couriers who use other applications. And yes, we are employed by Fleet Partners, not directly by Glovo.

Have you contacted Glovo before? Did they respond to you?
Yes, there were many reports to Glovo support, but as I said earlier, the responses were unsatisfactory solutions or no solutions at all. Generally, contact with support is quite limited and the courier often has to look for solutions himself.

And what about Fleet Partners? Do they respond?
From what we know, Fleet Partners respond, but they have limited room to maneuver. It is usually just reporting the problem to Glovo.

Do you have any signals from Suppliers from other Platforms or cities?
We have a lot of information from couriers and “order collection points”. Most of the points are not happy with the new application.

And does anyone from the Trade Unions support you?
We are supported by the Tri-City Youth Initiative Employees’ Circle, and other organizations supporting employees and the media have also shown interest.

What now, after the first protest? What are your next steps?
We intend to continue our activities until our requests are met. During the action on April 16, after presenting the situation to the Glovo representative, we set a preliminary date for further talks. We cannot provide an exact date yet, but it will probably be the last days of April. Until then, we want to encourage as many couriers as possible to actively participate in our activities. The more couriers participate, the more we will be able to achieve.

How can I contact you? Is there any way to support you, help?
Yes, we cordially invite you to join our fb group “Głos Dostawcy“, which aims to support couriers, and on Telegram “Gdański Protest Glovo“. All information about the protest can be found there.

Thanks and good luck!
