The Uber platform is once again in trouble for breaking the law. This time in Chicago (USA). The city’s Department of Business and Consumer Protection has initiated proceedings against Uber after receiving information that since January it has been overcharging for driving into the city center. The mechanism is as follows: the platform adds the city toll to customers’ fees for its services – but it does so at different times than those when they actually have to be paid.

Interestingly, there are many other fees imposed by the city authorities on Platforms in Chicago. These include: a city fee of $1.13 (for each ride), a contribution to the city’s transportation system for excluded people ($0.10), an administrative fee ($0.02) and a $5 surcharge for transporting people to the airport and port.
