A few days ago [23.06.2025], the Commissioner of the Department of Consumer and Worker Protection (DCWP) of the City of New York (USA) announced a settlement with the Relay Platform regarding violations of the rights of people employed as Delivery Drivers. The settlement provides for a total of $200,000 in compensation to workers who were violated by the law on maximum travel distances, and $20,000 in penalties for these violations. The Relay Platform must also reinstate the Delivery Drivers it illegally deactivated for refusing to travel long distances. The Platform has committed to comply with this law in the future.
As a condition of the settlement, Relay also withdrew its objection to the minimum hourly wage law established in New York. So now Relay has to pay its Suppliers at least $21.44 per hour of work.
