Another very serious issue concerning our employee rights. And this is not our opinion or speculation, but a proven fact.
Delivery Platforms, using apps (which Delivery Workers must install on their phones to work), collect data about us, the employees. No one knows exactly how extensive the scope of the information collected is.

Researchers, as part of the international GDPoweR project, attempted to obtain data from several global Delivery Platforms and then analyze it. The information they received from Platforms indicates that they violate our privacy to a very large extent. The issue is, of course, very complex, so we will focus on just one element: the time when the apps collect geolocation data.

Take a look at the graph below – it shows data from an app used by a Delivery Worker from France over a selected week. The times when the app actively collected geolocation data and sent it to the Platform are marked. Green indicates business hours, while red indicates off-hours, when the app should be inactive.

As you can see, the app collects data about us not only during business hours but also outside of them. It even collects other information. Sometimes it even records phone calls.

The platforms, of course, explain that this isn’t intentional, that it’s just a minor bug in the app. Are we really supposed to believe that?

Okay, but what can we do about it? It’s simple: as part of GDPoweR, an app was created that analyzes what the platforms know about us. Go there, and you’ll find full, step-by-step instructions on how to obtain your data from the platforms and have the app analyze it.

Oh, and of course, it’s free.

The app is available at: https://kurs-na-dane.shinyapps.io/start/

So: let’s get started!
